The song's lyrics tell about a woman seeing her lover off, but having a ominous feeling she will never see him again. In the omake after episode fifty-six Konoha Celebrity Report, Konohamaru describes and talks about Asuma. Naruto appears and tells him that he must mention "what everyone is talking about" and pictures of Kurenai and Asuma is shown. Asuma closes the omake and has no comment.
In the omake after episode 77, Shizune teasingly asks Kurenai how Asuma is doing. Kurenai blushes and says that she wouldn't know, although Shizune smiles knowingly and says how nice it must be to have such a good relationship.

In chapter 23, Kurenai and Asuma go to the store together, where Asuma offers to buy Kurenai his favorite flavor of chips, sour cream and onion. Asuma is shocked to see that his favorite flavor is currently sold out and begins to stress out about having chosen such a limited flavor, wishing that he had gone with salted seaweed instead. Kurenai is offput by how upset Asuma is over a mere bag of chips, thinking that it's uncool.
At the end of the chapter, Asuma returns to Kurenai, dressed up as a giant bag of chips, and asks Kurenai out on a date, but Kurenai is too shocked at his outfit.
In chapter 37, Lee and Tenten falls into a time slip. Asuma and Kurenai can be seen walking and talking together when Lee stops Kakashi and Obito's fight. As Asuma and Kurenai saw Kakashi, Lee and the group, Lee commented that Asuma and Kurenai are lovely together.

Asuma and Kurenai skin in Ninja Village Wars 2.
In the Chinese video game "Ninja Village Wars 2," several Naruto characters make cameos as event skins for the playable characters in the game, most appearing on their own. Asuma and Kurenai appear together as a couple for an event skin for Valentine's Day in art and on an ad banner, lying together and holding hands among fallen cherry blossom petals.
