Part II

Itachi Pursuit Mission Arc

Sasuke and Suigetsu head towards the Southern Hideout, one of Orochimaru's bases, where the prisoners are being guarded by a warden named Karin. Sasuke tells Suigetsu that his plan is to recruit Karin for his team. Suigetsu asks why he is putting together a team and why he would want Karin on it, as he finds her unpleasant and difficult to deal with. Sasuke responds that he had been thinking of forming a team for quite some time now as it would help him further his goals, and tells Suigetsu that Karin has a special ability which makes her unique.

After arriving at the base, Sasuke and Suigetsu met Karin, who had sensed their arrival. When they reunite again, Sasuke tells Karin to follow him while stating that he needs her. Sasuke told Karin to join him, which surprised her. Sasuke replied that, since Orochimaru was now gone, there was no need for her to continue to keep watch over the prisoners she was currently guarding, and told an annoyed Suigetsu to free them. Karin relented, but still refused to go. Moments later, Suigetstu leaves the room and both are alone. Sasuke decided that he would just have to find someone else.

Karin then locks the door for privacy and removes her glasses then changes her tone to a seductive voice, attempting to nuzzle next to Sasuke and shows him that she had the intention to go with him, making Sasuke question her about the sudden change. Karin then suggests leaving Suigetsu behind, telling him that they don't need him. As she begins to move closer to him, Sasuke tells her to give him some space. Suigetsu uses his Water Release: Great Water Arm Technique along with his Kubikiribōchō to break down the door. Sasuke alerts Suigetsu that Karin had accepted his proposal, but with the arrival of Suigetsu, Karin puts her glasses back on and reverts to her old, cold tone, telling them that she had never agreed to do such a thing. However, with no prisoners to keep watch over and her growing attraction towards Sasuke, she tells them that she is headed in the same direction as they are and thus would be joining them for part of the way.

As the three made their way to the Northern Hideout, Karin explained that Sasuke's next target, she warns them that Jūgo is an individual with repressed maniacal urges who becomes homicidal when he snaps, and that Orochimaru extracted fluids secreted from his enzymes in order to create his cursed seals. At the hideout, they discover that the guard is missing and are subsequently attacked by a prisoner, who is in the second stage of his cursed seal. Having killed all the guards, the prisoner decides to attack Sasuke, only for Sasuke to cut him down with his sword. When the group got there, prisoners infected with the cursed seal surrounded them. Sasuke told Karin to detect Jugo, which annoyed her. When Karin informed them that Jūgo was not among the prisoners, Sasuke and Suigetsu disposed of them without killing them, as instructed by Sasuke. Having found the keys to Jūgo's cell, Karin used her tracking ability to find him, Sasuke's team make their way through the hideout, Karin sends Suigetsu down the wrong hallway in order to be alone with Sasuke, and leads him to Jūgo's cell. Karin unlocked the door, and Sasuke went in first.

As Karin unlocks the door, Jūgo states that if it is a woman, he would kill her; however, just as she is about to open the door Sasuke grabbed it instead and told that he's going in first and stay behind him, making her blush as she agreed, Jūgo claims that he would kill whomever if it is a man, and is greeted by Sasuke, who opens the door. Jūgo enters into a partial transformation and attacks Sasuke, who also undergoes a partial transformation into the second stage of his cursed seal. Repelling Jūgo's attack, Sasuke tells Jūgo that he is not here to fight but to merely talk to him. Jūgo and Sasuke had a quick cursed seal battle, before it was interrupted by the arrival of Suigetsu. Suigetsu then appeared to take over the fight, explaining that beating Jūgo to a pulp was the only way to calm him. Jūgo morphed his piston arm into a massive forearm blade to deal with Suigetsu. After they ignored Sasuke's requests to stop, Sasuke wrapped the two in summoned snakes and exuded an enormous amount of killing intent. Jūgo's transformation receded, and he suddenly rushed back to his cell, demanding they lock it. Karin explained that, while the rage-driven Jūgo might be violent and bloodthirsty, Jūgo himself had no desire to harm anyone. Jūgo finally agreed to go with Sasuke after hearing that Kimimaro, who was consistently able to stop Jūgo's rage-driven rampages, had died to bring Sasuke to Orochimaru.

Later, when Team Hebi is finally formed, Sasuke explains to the team about the goal and his reasons for his actions. Asking Karin what she was going to do since she mentioned having other plans before to which she replied saying that she wasn't in a rush about her other plans.

Suigetsu then tells her to be honest and asks her if she just wanted to stay at Sasuke's side. Flustered, she denies Suigetsu's statement. Enjoying the situation, Suigetsu reminds her that she did something with Sasuke in the past, causing Karin to punch him. Sasuke then scolds Suigetsu to stop messing with Karin.

Hebi begins searching for Itachi Uchiha.

Meanwhile, Sasuke took his team to an old Uchiha outpost run by allies of the Uchiha clan in order to stock up on supplies.

After getting ready, Team Hebi disappears to locate Itachi Uchiha. Everyone leaves except of Karin who approaches once again to Sasuke and starts emphasizing on how the two of them could be alone; only resulting in Sasuke telling her that she also has to leave. In the battle against Deidara when the battle gets to its climax and Deidara detonates himself on a final explosion, Karin realizes at the distance that the blast happened in the same place where Sasuke was. She tries to sense his chakra, but she couldn't feel it at the time. Suigetsu then summons the serpent Manda. Unknown to them, the serpent was with Sasuke because he used it to transport himself away from the attack. Moments later when the rest of Hebi appears, Karin starts explaining to them that she knew he was there but the sudden vanish of Sasuke's chakra left her wondering what happened and if he teleported. Sasuke then explains what happened and in her thoughts, Karin comments on how good looking he is even when he's injured.

However, Karin quickly begins calling Sasuke a weakling states how was he the man who killed Orochimaru. Sasuke then justifies himself telling Karin that the one mentioned before was already weak, and that was it.

After this incident, Team Hebi takes a break from the searching and they stay in at Nikkō Inn Town to let Sasuke recuperate of the battle. However, even with the serious injury, he still asks everyone if they got any leads on Itachi. Karin who was annoyed by his stubbornness asked him if he was kidding her since he was "half-dead and was still trying to act like a tough guy". After some discussion about the matter, Jugo comes up with a comment that Suigetsu used to taunt Karin, causing her to violently lash out at him. Instead of scolding her, he instead watches the situation with a nonchalant expression. But none of them notices that Jugo was losing control of himself. Jūgo's murderous impulses begin to manifest, Suigetsu and Karin held him down, only for Sasuke to use his Sharingan to eradicate the urges. Sasuke instantly passes out from his fatigue, as the other three members decide to stay on Hebi under Sasuke's command.

Later, Karin is shown to be on her way back of running a couple of errands. While putting on some of her new perfume, she snickers about her plan on "attacking" Sasuke while Suigetsu and Jugo fall asleep. But these thoughts are suddenly interrupted when she senses people approaching. Karin then quickly begins concentrating and easily differences important traits of the coming squad and concludes they tracked them by scent, but couldn't differ if they were "Akatsuki" or leaf ninjas. Quickly, she reaches the inn and tells Sasuke to wake up. She lets him know they've been followed and asks him what they should do.

When everything is set to leave, Karin asks Jugo a favor. She shows him a discarded shirt of Sasuke that was drenched in his sweat, and Jugo questions her why she has them. This causes Karin to become nervous and quickly confirms that it's used to distracted the leaf's tracking squad. Meanwhile, Sasuke manages to reach one of the Akatsuki hideouts that Jūgo had found, telling Hebi to stay outside while he checks it out.

Fated Battle Between Brothers Arc

Elsewhere, the members of Hebi wait outside of an Akatsuki hideout while Sasuke ventures inside. He finds Itachi in the middle of the hideout, who asks Sasuke whether he would attack prematurely once more. Sasuke uses his speed to come behind Itachi and impales his brother with his Chidori Sharp Spear. However, that Itachi is not the real one; as Itachi splits into various crows, he tells Sasuke to meet him alone at the Uchiha Hideout where they can settle things once and for all. Sasuke and Hebi head to the hideout when Karin notifies Sasuke that she is sensing various chakra traces belonging to the same individual. They are suddenly ambushed by a Naruto shadow clone, who Sasuke easily defeats with his Chidori.

Sasuke finally meets with Itachi and Team Hebi starts moving towards the Uchiha Hideout. When they get there, Kisame asks to the rest of the team to not go along with Sasuke. He agrees, but Karin objects telling Sasuke that doing that was crazy and they should "kick this guy's butt" (referring to Kisame) and fight Itachi together. However, he replies to her to for wait him there, since it was his revenge.

Sasuke finally meets with Itachi and Team Hebi starts moving towards the Uchiha Hideout. When they get there, Kisame asks to the rest of the team to not go along with Sasuke. He agrees, but Karin objects telling Sasuke that doing that was crazy and they should "kick this guy's butt" (referring to Kisame) and fight Itachi together. However, he replies to her to for wait him there, since it was his revenge.

Black and White Zetsu also stops the fight between Kisame and Suigetsu, notifying them of Sasuke's victory and inviting Hebi to the Akatsuki's hideout in the East. During the discussion about the tailed beast matter, Karin shows her knowledge about the Kyūbi but is ignored due to "Madara's" intervention. Annoyed by this, Karin growls.

As Madara finishes his tale, Sasuke stands on a cliff, noticing at a hawk flying around. Tears streaming down his face, he recalls the memories of his brother he had before the clan's massacre and how much he had loved and respected Itachi. He then declares that he is renaming their team from Hebi to Taka, and that their new mission is to destroy Konohagakure, awakening his own Mangekyō Sharingan in the process.

Pain's Assault Arc

Later the Team; now named as Taka, goes to find the Hachibi to bring it to Akatsuki. At the beginning of the fight, Sasuke tells Karin to watch his back. Sasuke also mentions that they Taka are the ones using Akatsuki and not the other way around, which prompts Karin to blush; thinking to herself that she knew he would never stop to being "someone else's errand boy".

During the course of the fight, Sasuke became badly hurt, Karin dragged him away from the battle while Jugo and Suigetsu battle Killer B. Karin tells Sasuke to bite her, her chakra healing Sasuke's near-fatal wounds. When Sasuke was mortally wounded fighting Killer B, Karin immediately rushed to pull the dying Sasuke out of the fight, as Suigetsu and Jūgo kept Killer B busy. As Karin pulled the swords out of Sasuke's body she exposed her right arm, riddled with numerous bite marks. She then told Sasuke to bite her arm, and as he did, her Heal Bite healed his wounds, she receives a “You saved me, Karin” in return.

As Karin sits out, exhausted from healing Sasuke, the others decide to attack Killer B in tandem, with Suigetsu advising that they not hold back. Killer B manages to use his Disturbance Taijutsu to land a hit on Suigetsu, grinding his fist into the other's chest, only for Suigetsu to trap Killer B's fist with his Hydrification Technique. With Killer B unable to move out of the way, Suigetsu tells Sasuke to hit them both, and Sasuke uses his Chidori on Killer B as he is wet, the water conducting the electricity and shocking both of them.

As Killer B stands there dazed, Jūgo attempts to hit him from above, only for Killer B to jump out of the way. The jinchūriki states that he has had enough with the battle and decides to go out for a drink. Using her Mind's Eye of the Kagura technique, Karin spots Killer B's location as Sasuke rushes towards him. Realizing that his foes are troublesome, Killer B goes into his Version 1 form, growing chakra tails; Sasuke recalls when Naruto did the same during their battle. Using his Mangekyō Sharingan, Sasuke is able to dodge Killer B's tailed form, only for the jinchūriki to go after the other Taka members. Entering into a partial transformation, Jūgo uses his jet boosters to save himself, Karin, and Suigetsu, though the latter falls into the surrounding body of water.

The result of Killer B slamming into the ground causes large clouds of smoke to appear before them. Killer B attempts to rush at Sasuke, who uses his Mangekyo enhanced genjutsu on him, causing Karin to be relieved. However, Killer B snaps out of the genjutsu instantly and uses his Lightning Release: Lariat to punch Sasuke, rupturing his neck, chest, and his organs, causing his team member to run towards him. Killer B muses how genjutsu does not work jinchūriki who have complete control of their tailed beast since the beast's chakra could snap the host out of any genjutsu.

After Sasuke was yet again critically wounded by Killer B, Karin insisted on reviving Sasuke again. She was stopped by Jūgo, who claimed she didn't have enough chakra to save Sasuke again, so Karin watches as Jūgo transfers his flesh to Sasuke to heal him. When Sasuke regained consciousness, Karin smiled in relief before she started to pull him him, they looked at Jugo to see the process causes him to regress in physical age, giving him the appearance of a young child.

Meanwhile, Killer B enters into a full transformation, unleashing the Eight-Tailed Ox from within. As he attempts to attacks them, Suigetsu uses the surrounding water to create a form that resembles a demon-like fish, and blocks Killer B's attack.

Karin helps Sasuke run by supporting his body after he has regained consciousness. In this form, Suigetsu is able to face the Eight-Tails head on while Sasuke, Karin and Jūgo try to flee. In order to prevent their escape, Killer B fires his Tailed Beast Ball at them, although Suigetsu's form is able to absorb all the damage himself, saving his teammates.

Shocked at the fact that Suigetsu was willing to risk his life for him and recalling how Karin and Jūgo had healed him from fatal injuries at their own expense, Sasuke is reminded of Team 7.

Wanting to protect his teammates, Sasuke's left Sharingan transforms into the Mangekyō and proceeds to use Amaterasu, setting the tailed beast on fire. Killer B attempts to use a tentacle to crush Karin but Sasuke uses his Chidori Sharp Spear to slice the tentacle off; however, another tentacles manages to swat Karin and she is engulfed in the black flames as well. Desperate to save Karin's life, Sasuke's left Mangekyō manages to extinguish the flames, much to his surprise. Realizing he can control the flames, Sasuke puts out the Amaterasu, revealing an unconscious Killer B.

Wanting to protect his teammates, Sasuke's left Sharingan transforms into the Mangekyō and proceeds to use Amaterasu, setting the tailed beast on fire. While the Hachibi crashes around as it is consumed by the black flames, Karin grabs Sasuke and Jugo (who is carrying Suigetsu) and hoists them out of danger's way.

Killer B attempts to use a tentacle to crush Karin but Sasuke uses his Chidori Sharp Spear to slice the tentacle off to protect her; however, Karin gets caught by the Amaterasu flames. Jugo then suggests that they leave her; telling Sasuke that Karin is done for and tries to pull him away. Looking at Karin and desperate to save Karin's life, Sasuke's Mangekyo reacts and extinguishes the Amaterasu flames; saving her life. The relief is short-lived and soon enough, Sasuke notices that the unconscious Karin is in danger again and hurriedly yells at Jugo to get her. Realizing he can control the flames, Sasuke puts out the Amaterasu, revealing an unconscious Killer B.

While Taka was recovering, Karin briefly put her hair in a ponytail. She noticed that something was wrong with Sasuke, but as he brushed it off, she detected an enemy outside their base, which Sasuke and Jūgo went to investigate.

Elsewhere, a resting Sasuke wonders where Suigetsu is. Karin tells him that Suigetsu left three or four days ago and hasn't returned yet, hoping he never comes back. At that moment, Suigetsu show up through the door wielding his Kubikiribōchō, revealing that he had travelled all the way back to the Valley of Clouds and Lightning just to retrieve it. With Suigetsu's return, Sasuke mobilizes Taka and notifies them that they are to head to Konoha right away.

Five Kage Summit Arc

Elsewhere, Taka continue on their path towards Konoha, only to be blocked by Madara. Sasuke tells Madara that Taka has left the Akatsuki, but Madara explains that they blundered in their attempt to catch the Eight-Tails and thus must make amends. His associate, Zetsu, appears and notifies Madara that Danzō has been made Hokage, much to Sasuke's indignation, since Danzō was one of Konoha's elders who forced Itachi to massacre his own clan. Madara reveals that Konoha had been destroyed by Pain while Zetsu notifies the group that a Five Kage Summit has been called.

Elsewhere, Zetsu notifies Madara and Taka that it was Naruto who defeated Pain, citing that Naruto may be stronger than Sasuke now. Sasuke smirks, and tells Taka that their new objective is to head to the Five Kage Summit to kill Danzō. Madara approves the plan, and Zetsu splits himself into two — Black Zetsu and White Zetsu. White Zetsu leads Taka to the summit's location while Black Zetsu stays back with Madara.

Taka then head towards the Kage Summit to assassinate Danzo. On arrival, White Zetsu points Danzō out to them and Taka finds a place where they can ambush him. While they hide outside, Zetsu alerts the Hokage about Taka’s intentions and the Samurai's ambush them; soon followed by the Raikage himself. Sasuke, Jugo and Suigetsu engage in the fight while Karin begins focusing on tracking Danzo.

Taka then head towards the Kage Summit to assassinate Danzo. On arrival, White Zetsu points Danzō out to them and Taka finds a place where they can ambush him. While they hide outside, Zetsu alerts the Hokage about Taka’s intentions and the Samurai's ambush them. Meanwhile, Sasuke engages in combat against the samurai soldiers, easily killing them. Suigetsu notices the change in Sasuke's behavior, as Sasuke had previously been vocal about only killing when necessary, while Karin is able to sense this by reading his chakra, she notices that his chakra has become cold. Shaken by these changes, she remarks that “It feels like he’s a completely different Sasuke”.

Suigetsu's blade is broken from the clash and continues to fight Darui, who orders C to locate Karin. Using her Chakra Suppression Technique, Karin is able to hide, while Sasuke paralyses C with his Genjutsu: Sharingan to take him out. Jūgo, who had purposely tapped into his homicidal nature and had entered into full Sage Transformation, tries to kill the Raikage with his Multiple Lotus Nonself Connected Cannons, only for the Kages to survive unscathed. With Jūgo being injured, Sasuke decides to face the Raikage himself.

Meanwhile, Karin is able to locate Danzō, but her tracking is noticed by Fū, who alerts Danzō. Having no choice but to eliminate him, the Three Sand Siblings, along with Darui, decide to finish the job. Darui fires his Storm Release: Laser Circus while Kankurō, revealed to have obtained the Sasori puppet, unleashes his Red Secret Technique: Machinery Triangles; Temari employs her Wind Release: Great Sickle Weasel Technique as Gaara tops it off with his Successive Shots Sand Drizzle. However, all four of their attacks are blocked by Sasuke's Susano'o, which has now fully formed, and the latter proudly declares it as the ultimate defense for those who possess the Mangekyō Sharingan in both eyes.

When Sasuke creates a distraction and an opening to get away by destroying the pillars, causing the ceiling to come crashing down, Karin begins to fall but is saved by Sasuke's Susano’o. However, he carelessly throws her to the ground. As Karin sat up, she became surprised when she saw Sasuke, whose Susano'o was disappearing.

Sasuke tells Karin has she located Danzo she confirms that she's found his location. Sasuke standing before Karin then orders her to take him to Danzo. She informs Sasuke that Jūgo and Suigetsu are still alive, but he said to forget them and had her lead him to Danzō. With hesitation she agrees, but is shown worrying about his condition.

Karin does as she is told and they leave to find Danzo who had managed to get away. Following after him, they are blocked by the Mizukage's defiance. When the Mizukage comments on her personal interest in Sasuke, Karin snaps at her in annoyance. Soon after, Sasuke and Karin are separated by one of the attacks of the Mizukage, leaving Sasuke to face her on his own while Karin keeps an eye on his chakra from the other side of the wall. She is worried to note that Sasuke has been overdoing it and his chakra is getting weaker. Once he emerges from the other side of the wall, Karin immediately asks him whether he is alright.

The Tsuchikage is the next to attack, and he catches Sasuke in his Dust Release: Detachment of the Primitive World Technique, which seemingly incinerates him into mere particles. When Sasuke's chakra signature disappeared and thinking that he has been killed, a shocked Karin broke into tears in sadness. The Tsuchikage smirks and tells Karin that she is next while the Raikage, who had just stormed into the room, berates him for stealing his kill. At that moment, Tobi warps into the room carrying the unconscious Sasuke, who fortunately saved him just in time, much to Karin’s relief. Tobi announcing himself as Madara Uchiha and asks them if they would like to hear about his Eye of the Moon Plan. He then sends Sasuke into the dimension inside his sharingan and sends Karin alongside him, telling her to heal Sasuke for him.

In Kamui's Dimension, Karin finishes healing Sasuke just as Tobi phases in front of her. He tells Sasuke that he has a present for him and warps the three of them back to the bridge, where Danzō awaits. Tobi tells Karin to step away, warning her that she would be killed if she interfered. Danzō removes the bandages on his arm, revealing numerous Sharingan implants, and states that he is about to add Sasuke and Tobi's eyes to his collection. Karin then hears and witnesses everything Sasuke and Danzo exchange, including matters regarding the Uchiha clan and Itachi’s truth.

Throughout the fight, Karin tries to quell her worries for Sasuke and focus on helping him the one way she can; by analyzing Danzo’s technique.

Sasuke accepts it as acknowledgement and crushes Danzō, seemingly killing him. However, Danzō reappears right behind Sasuke, and attempts to stab him with a kunai, only for the Susanoo to shield him once more. As Danzō jumps high into the air, Sasuke ascends into the Susano'o's head and incinerates Danzō with his Amaterasu. Despite being burned to ashes, Danzō appears unscathed in front of Sasuke, although Karin notices that every time Danzō survives what seems like a fatal injury, a Sharingan eye on his arm seals itself shut. She immediately ruled out genjutsu or a clone technique, and eventually noticed that the Sharingan embedded in Danzō's right arm closed one by one as the battle progressed. Coupling this observation with frequent descents in Danzō's chakra levels, she learned the secret of his technique. Throughout the fight, Karin tries to quell her worries for Sasuke and focus on helping him the one way she can; by analyzing Danzo’s technique.

Karin observes that another Sharingan eye has shut itself on Danzō's right arm. She counts the ten eyes and notices that there are only five left and realizes that once the remaining five are sealed shut, Danzō would not be able to evade fatal injuries anymore. She attempts to relay her findings to Sasuke, but he merely tells her that he had already caught on earlier and thus had been forcing Danzō the entire time to continue relying on Izanagi until he used up all ten eyes. Infuriated, Danzō uses Wind Waves to attack the oncoming Susanoo; while he does not destroy it, he is able to block it. She told Sasuke about it and advised that he keep his distance until Izanagi expired. However, Danzō is punched by the Susanoo once more and uses his seventh eye to utilize Izanagi again. Manifesting himself behind Sasuke, whose Susanoo has faded away, Danzō throws kunai towards him, although Sasuke uses his bracelets to produce shuriken, which he throws back. Unable to evade it in mid-air, Danzō employs Izanagi to elude it, leaving him with only two Sharingan eyes on his right arm. As Sasuke forms his Chidori Sharp Spear, he asks Danzō how many Uchihas' had to die in order for him to gain ten Sharingan eyes; Danzo, using his Wind Release: Vacuum Blade to transform his kunai into a sword, replies that he could not have done it without Itachi. The two then lunge towards one another, clashing their blades.

Once Danzo falls, Karin runs to Sasuke and offers him her arm to heal him. As Tobi watches them, he thinks to himself that bringing Karin along was the right choice to make; noting how her abilities are useful and why Karin was Sasuke's "favorite".

Pulling away from the Chidori Sharp Spear, Danzō's right shoulder begins to grow uncontrollably. As a tree begins to emerge, Danzō slices off his right arm completely, while Madara theorizes that Danzō was unable to suppress Hashirama Senju's cells or control the Wood Release with his chakra levels being so low. Danzō removes the bandages around his head to reveal another Sharingan eye in his right eye socket, which Madara recognizes as Shisui Uchiha's, the one capable of using Kotoamatsukami. Madara wonders whether Danzō would use Kotoamatsukami or Izanagi against Sasuke, although Danzō, knowing that Izanagi would render the Sharingan useless and wanting to save Kotoamatsukami to control Madara, decides to simply take Karin hostage, using her as a human shield. Sasuke glares at Danzo. Karin begs Sasuke to save her while Danzō remarks that he must resort to such tactics in order to survive and strengthen the shinobi world, and that Karin would just be a means to reach that end. Sasuke tells Karin not to move; as she smiles, thinking he would save her, Sasuke pierces them both with his Chidori Sharp Spear, striking one of Danzō's vital spots. Shocked, Karin inwardly wonders if this is all she ever meant to him and Sasuke simply commented that, if she can be taken hostage so easily, she was now only a burden to him.

Karin collapsed and Danzō proceeds to hop across the Samurai Bridge, desperate to survive, as Sasuke merely walks behind him, smirking. Madara arrives to block Danzō's path and notifies him that he would be taking Shisui's eye now.

Madara warns Sasuke to get some rest before heading to Konoha, reminding him that his eyes would go blind by continually overusing the Mangekyō Sharingan. He adds that Sasuke should finish off Karin if she holds no further use to him, as she knows too much. Madara warps away. After some consideration, Sasuke approaches Karin. As Karin remembered her and Sasuke's first encounter was during in the second test of the Chunin Exams. Karin, having lost sight of her teammates, wanders around the forest while holding her team's scroll. A wild animal corners her and prepares to attack her, but Sasuke appears and defeats the beast. He notices that Karin had the same scroll as his team and prepares to leave. But Karin, whose glasses were knocked off, finally retrieves her glasses and saw how he had smiled and tells her, "see ya" and leaves. Back in the present, Karin sadly thinks to herself that all she wanted was to “see is his face from that day just once more”. However, Sasuke merely activates his Chidori and prepares to end her life, only to be stopped by Sakura, who declares that she has deserted Konoha and wishes to join him.

Sasuke proceeds to tell Sakura that if she wants to go with him, then she will have to kill Karin and take her place. However, once Sakura turns her back on him, Sasuke tries to kill her with Chidori. Using the little strength that she has left, she warns Sakura of the incoming attack.

Karin cries for the first time, where she empathizes with Sakura’s tears. She also reminds Sakura that Sasuke is no longer the Sasuke they knew. Karin is later shown to worry about Sasuke but then leans against a wall and tells herself that she has had enough of him.

Fourth Shinobi World War: Countdown Arc

As Team 7 takes her back to Konoha so that she can be taken into custody, Karin muses about Naruto’s chakra and compares it to Sasuke’s.

Later, she is interrogated by Ibiki Morino in Konoha to get information on Akatsuki, Sasuke and Kabuto Yakushi. Though she initially wove a tale in which she was a victim of both Orochimaru who she claimed had forced her into hard labor and Sasuke who had unreasonably demanded too much from her, Ibiki saw through it immediately and Karin switched tracks, insisting to be fed a bowl of deep-fried pork cutlets before she would talk. While the other two fussed over making preparations however, Ibiki remained stone-faced. Karin later noted that all the people in Konohagakure seem to all be cheerful and warm, just like Naruto.^[29][30]

Fourth Shinobi World War: Climax Arc

When Jugo expresses his concerns over Sasuke and Karin’s whereabouts, but Suigetsu quickly shoots them down saying that if Sasuke and Karin are alive then they would just get in Karin's way. He then reveals that is his favorite thing to do after collecting swords.

While in the cells within Konoha, Karin is shown alternating between adoring and cursing a Sasuke bromide, only to do a 180º as soon as the jailers stop paying attention to her and lower their guard. It is then revealed that in truth, Karin was hiding tools for her escape under Sasuke’s bromide all along. As Suigetsu and Jugo continue their previous conversation. Jugo questions to know why is Suigetsu in Team Taka to where he replies with; “just to get in the way between Sasuke and Karin” and adding on saying that he just simply likes breaking things apart. Juugo then notes how reprehensible Suigetsu is.

Elsewhere, Sasuke comes across Itachi and soon faces against Kabuto alongside his brother. When Kabuto reveals that he acquired his incredible recovery power from a woman from the Uzumaki clan. "...Someone you're quite familiar with... Karin", he tells Sasuke, who is shocked to hear Karin belongs to the Uzumaki clan.

Later when reunited with Team Taka excluding Karin, Sasuke’s quest for answers takes him, Suigetsu, Juugo and Orochimaru to Konoha, where he and Karin meet again. Having felt Sasuke’s chakra, a very pissed off Karin hunts down the group, yelling that she would never forgive Sasuke for what he did but before she can even finish giving him an earful, Sasuke apologizes to her. This begins stirring Karin’s feelings for him and prompts Orochimaru to comment on the fact that Sasuke is still her “weak spot”.

As Karin rattles on what Sasuke did to her to Orochimaru, the Sannin tells her to cooperate and join the team. Claiming that she has no choice, Karin snuggles up to Sasuke, who breaks into a sweat as the rest watch the scene unfold.

Much to Karin’s chagrin, she and Sasuke have to part ways again soon after. Orochimaru takes Karin and Suigetsu with him to the Hokage while Sasuke and the rest go join the battlefield. When Orochimaru tells Karin to heal Tsunade by letting her bite her, Karin makes a face and says that she does not want anyone other than Sasuke biting her. Suigetsu then points out that she has just admited to love Sasuke, which Karin quickly denies. However, once Suigetsu reminds her that she was already bitten by other people before Sasuke bit her, Karin quickly states that she is only “for Sasuke’s exclusive use” now.

Birth of the Ten-Tails' Jinchūriki Arc

When the group finally arrives at the battlefield, Karin comments on how she wish she could be by Sasuke's side. When she soon spots his Susanoo along with Juugo, she tells herself that she should've probably went as well. Suigetsu then teases her and is bashed upon by a raged Karin. Later in the arc, Sasuke is stabbed and thrown from the side by Madara. Sensing Sasuke's chakra from afar, Karin quickly finds herself in tears. Muttering to herself the Uchiha's name, she finds herself fearing that he might die.

No longer being able to sense Sasuke's chakra, Karin begins rushing to his side awakening the Adamantine Attacking Chains and destroyed parts of Guruguru's statue.Team Taka is then shown following and admiring her steps, supporting as she takes the lead. However, Zetsu appears and impales Karin, and the later bit herself in order to heal. With the help of Team Taka, Jugo carries an injured Karin and asks if she was alright. With fierce eyes, a determined Karin replies that it's more important to find what Sasuke's state is, but she soon fears it's too late as she could no longer sense his chakra.She also sensed someone else's chakra near Sasuke, that she did not recognize. Moving faster, as putting her own life in danger, Karin rushed to Sasuke's aid. Upon reaching him, she discovers that the mysterious person was Kabuto. At first, she was convinced  that the later was hurting the Uchiha, but Kabuto explained he was rather healing him. To her shock, she began to sense Sasuke's chakra and leaned by him, whispering his name.

In episode 424, Karin was about to go over to Sasuke and called to him when he said he wanted to go alone until Orochimaru stops her. She tells them why are they giving up and was about to say something else before Sasuke leaves for the battle.

Kaguya Ōtsutsuki Strikes Arc

When Karin saw Sasuke for the first time since joining Orochimaru, she didn't realise he was the boy that rescued her during the Chūnin Exams.

In her dream after being trapped in the Infinite Tsukuyomi, Karin remembered the day she first encountered Sasuke years prior, when she officially met him after he became Orochimaru's subordinate, and everything she's done for him after he formed 'Hebi'. Her genjutsu was that, Sasuke became the Sixth Hokage, rescued her from her former allies who wanted to exact revenge on her, and held her in the snow and was worried about her. At the end, she stated her only desire was to see him smile kindly to her again.

Sasuke Shinden: Book of Sunrise

In Naruto Shippuden episode 485, when Sasuke arrived at Orochimaru's hideout, Karin quickly rushed into him asking him why didn't he tell her he was coming. She spotted Chino near Sasuke, suspecting that she was his girlfriend, she became jealous and called her an old hag. She ask Sasuke if it's true which he denies. She was excited at the thought of going to travel with Sasuke again but became sad when Orochimaru said she must stay at the Hide Out. She talks with Suigetsu and Jugo on why Sasuke refuses to permanently settle down in Konohagakure, Karin replies that Sasuke possessing the Sharingan and Rinnegan earn him enemies, he is avoiding the village to protect it.

After the war, Karin resumed her work as Orochimaru's subordinate and Sasuke, after briefly returning to Konoha, left on a journey of redemption. He would later marry Sakura and they would travel together on his journey, during which she became pregnant. When Sakura went into labor, Sasuke brought her to one of Orochimaru's hideouts, where Karin was at, and Karin helped Sakura give birth to their daughter, Sarada. Because of this, Karin and Sakura become friends, and Karin accepts that Sasuke is happy with his new family. The Uchiha family later returned to Konoha while Karin continued her duties.

New Era: Part I

Sarada Uchiha Arc

Sarada finds interest in Karin.

After Sarada returns back to her home that is now in rubble, Sarada finds the family's portrait. Upon picking it up, the photo reveals itself to be a Taka photo where Karin is standing next to Sasuke. Seeing Karin as the 'woman in glasses', Sarada quickly depicts an interest in Karin, paralleling to her situation with Sakura from earlier about whether her parents wore glasses or not. Unable to get answers from Sakura and Shizune, and hearing that Naruto is going to secretly meet with Sasuke, Sarada follows him and meets with her father for the first time in years. During Sarada's discussion with Sasuke, Sarada pulls up the Taka photo and asks who Karin is. However, she receives no response from her father along with her other questions about why he has been absent in most of her life. Later on, Sarada finds the Taka crew but with the exception of Karin. Sarada asks Suigetsu for Karin's whereabouts, she frowns upon hearing she's at another location. Sarada takes Suigetsu to ask for a DNA test between both Karin and her, and Suigetsu was dumbfounded that Sasuke could have done such a thing with Karin. He pulls out a umbilical cord from one of Karin's drawers and puts it in the machine along with a gene sample from Sarada.

Connections come in many forms.

As the results finally come up, Sarada is shocked upon seeing the results match. Suigetsu tells her that this can only mean that Karin is her biological mother. However, the debate of who her mother is was put to rest when Sakura insisted to Sarada that she truly was her real mother, following which Sasuke directly offered the confirmation that Sarada herself represents the connection between Sakura and him.

Later revealed by Karin herself to Suigetsu, it is confirmed that Karin was the one who helped Sakura deliver Sarada, with the cord belonging to Sakura and Sarada. With this confirmation, Suigetsu asks if she was finally over Sasuke. Annoyed, Karin comments that connections come in all forms and she only wants Sasuke happy, but also confirming that there is a thing that exists between women (Sakura and Karin) which is friendship. Lastly, she demands Suigetsu to later go apologize to Sarada.

Jūgo Arc

After the genin reluctantly left the village while Tosaka was allowed to remain to help in the investigation, they found Sumire after she was knocked out by Suigetsu. Suigetsu insisted that Nue attacked them first and only acted in self-defense. When learning that the Otogakure-nin were looking for Jūgo, who left the base without permission, the genin explained that Jūgo was apprehended by the Land of Rivers' researchers. While Karin treated Sumire, she voiced her joy at seeing Sarada again, saying that she is dear to her despite them not being related. When Sumire awoke, she explained that two assailants who captured Wasabi Izuno and Namida Suzumeno had special collars that let them harness cursed seals of their own. Realizing that this duo was working with the Land of Rivers' researchers, they concluding that the outbreak must have been started by them. While Suigetsu insisted on just assaulting the enemies and take Jūgo back by force, Karin reminded him that such reckless actions could reflect negatively on Orochimaru's already-dubious truce with the world.

Karin and Sarada acted as diversions to draw out the assailants while their allies infiltrated the enemy base. While initially working, the enemies quickly saw through the ruse and split up, with Sasami going further to face Karin and Sarada while Momo returned to the base. Once transformed, Sasami quickly began making sport of her opponents, treating them as prey. Sarada's Sharingan let her follow Sasami's movements enough to defend. However, as her chakra quickly drained from using her dōjutsu, Sasami managed to land a powerful blow on her. Karin defended Sarada by subduing Sasami with her chakra chains long enough for Sarada to take some of Karin's chakra. This let Sarada deliver a devastating punch that knocked Sasami out and destroyed her cursed seal collar. Karin complimented her skills as Sakura and Sasuke's daughter. On their way back to the village, they changed course as Sarada realized the wild geese were about to start migrating, spreading the cursed seal infection.

Sarada and Karin struggled to keep the infected geese from migrating, requesting Team 15's help when they arrived by the lake. While Jūgo defeated Tosaka and later fought Nue and Boruto, Karin considered the possibility of having to kill the birds to prevent the cursed seal from spreading. She didn't think Sarada could do it, but she took the responsibility onto herself, as she was part of the team assigned to the mission. After Boruto managed to cause Jūgo's transformation to recede, Mitsuki arrived with Konohamaru and Suigetsu, having acquired a serum to remove the infection. Suigetsu consumed it and merged with the lake to rain it over the birds. Sarada chastised Boruto on the recklessness of his plan to snap Jūgo out of his rampage, but he retorted the plan worked. The two wondered what Jūgo would do next.

Among the Fans

SasuKarin is a very popular and well known pairing in the Naruto fandom and is Sasuke's 2nd most popular het pairing after SasuSaku. Many fans ship this due to Karin's crush on Sasuke, the way Sasuke respects Karin's abilities and the fact that they were always allies even while Sasuke was an enemy to Konoha. Following the ending of the Naruto manga, SasuSaku became canon and had a daughter called Sarada but many fans noted the resemblance she had to Karin, especially the glasses. This formed the basis of Naruto Gaiden story where Sarada is led to believe her mother is actually Karin, however this proved to be a red herring. SasuKarin rivals SasuSaku, SasuNaru and SuiKa. It is a companion couple to NaruSaku.
